About the Center

Azalea Recreation Center is located in northwest St. Petersburg in the Tyrone area. It is unique because it offers both adult and child fee classes, as well as classes to meet the needs of participants with disabilities through our Therapeutic Recreation programming. The facility has multiple rooms available for rental. The center is located within 35 acres of Azalea parkland.

History of the Center

In May 2001, Azalea Center's expansion included "Poetic Enviroment." Artist Richard Medlock seeks to make public art, which humanizes our environment and enriches the community experience. Its' intent "is to foster peaceful states of mind for the viewer-participant as they approach the entrance or as they view it from the lobby of the Azalea Center Building."
