Benefits of Leisure
Taking part in regular recreational activity enhances well-being, reduces stress, uplifts mood and overall physical wellness. Studies show having parks and recreation facilities in convenient proximity to home, school and work have many health benefits including lower systolic blood pressure, lower body mass index, fewer doctor visits, lower stress levels, balanced mood, less depression and increased daily healthy activity. In addition, regular activity enhances quality of life and improves self-esteem, feelings of satisfaction and mental health.
Healthy St. Pete
Healthy St. Pete is an initiative of the City of St. Petersburg and a division of the St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation Department that works to build a culture of health in our city by making the healthy choice the easy choice. The initiative is designed to encourage the community to eat, shop, live and play healthy!
The Fresh Rec Stop program is managed by Healthy St. Pete and aims to increass access to fresh produce at affordable costs in convenient locations throughout St. Petersburg.

Interactive Coloring BookThe St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation Department teamed up with Healthy St. Pete to bring a creative and interactive coloring book for families for you to do at home.

Healthy St. Pete offers a variety of free programming aimed at elevating wellness throughout the St. Petersburg community, including:
- Health360: A program hosted by community partners that offers nutrition education, obesity prevention classes, family cooking expereinces, financial wellness classes, and more.
