To preserve, protect, maintain and enhance the city's parklands and recreational facilities and engage people in leisure activities that contribute to their quality of life.
The general public may rent Roberts Recreation Center, parkland & shelters and athletic fields.
This is one of the city's sixteen Recreation facilities, the newest and one of a
kind two story facility combining mostly elementary and teen activities on the
lower half. The second story is dedicated more to adult programming such as the
dance room, soundproof music room, pottery, social activities. The second story
balcony overlooks the beautiful gymnasium which houses several
basketball leagues, some of which have been in this park for over fifty years.
The original Roberts Youth Center was dedicated to the youth of our city by Mrs. R. W. Roberts in memory of her husband, Mr. Roberts. The 16,500 square feet facility opened in May, 1958. In May of 1975, to accommodate the growing need for adult recreation programs two homes were purchased and converted into program space. Our new facility replaces the outdated centers on the 50 year anniversary of Roberts Recreation in the St. Petersburg community.
