Nature-Based Day Camps

Fun and exciting adventures await your child. Campers will discover nature and wildlife while being educated about caring for our environment. Camps take place when Pinellas County schools are on “holiday” break. See information below for ways to create amazing childhood memories. Sprouts Camp

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center
Ages: 3 to 4 (Children must be potty trained)
Dates: May 30 - June 2, June 5 - 9, June 12 - 16, June 19 - 23, June 26 - 30, July 3 - 7, July 10 - 14, July 17 - 21, and July 31 - August 4, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Cost: $65/week

Kids grow better outside! Join us for Spouts Camp, a week filled with songs, stories, games, and nature walks! Each week is a different theme with habitat investigations and activities that will demonstrate environmental concepts.

Young Naturalist Camp

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Environmental Studies Area - Oak Hall
Ages: 5 - 6
Dates: June 5 - 9, June 12 - 16, June 19 - 23, June 26 - 30, July 3 - 7,
July 10 - 14, July 17 - 21, and July 24 - 28, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended Care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $130/week • Extended Care: $25/week

This camp is filled with a variety of exciting activities including nature hikes, games, animal and plant studies, crafts, and wildlife watching. The goal is for campers to explore and learn about their natural world, encourage personal creativity, and learn to share discoveries by working together and having fun. Themes will change weekly. Different field trip destinations will be offered on Thursday each week throughout the summer.

Nature Adventure Camp

Ages: 7 to 13
Dates: May 30 - June 2, June 5 - 9, June 12 - 16, June 19 - 23, June 26 - 30, July 3 - 7, July 10 - 14, July 17 - 21, July 24 - 28, July 31 - August 4, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $130/week • Extended Care: $25/week

Campers learn about Florida's unique habitats and their inhabitants, get dirty during dip-netting, observe wildlife while hiking preserve trails, and acquire basic birding skills. Designed with new themes and guest programs throughout the summer, every day includes relevant natural history topics and exciting adventures, crafts, and activities. Different field trip destinations will be offered on Thursdays.

Pioneer Camp

Campers experience a time when family, friendship, and character were as important as food, water, and shelter. Young pioneers will learn through activities adapted from the Association for Experiential Education to foster team building, leadership, and self-esteem. They will have handson experiences at the blacksmith shop.

Herpetology Camp

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.

Campers explore the fascinating world of amphibians and reptiles. Through up-close encounters with a variety of animals, such as gopher tortoises, frogs, lizards, and snakes, campers learn about ecology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles.

Wildlife Ecology Camp

Dates: July 24 - 28, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $150 • Extended Care: $25

Campers will explore the ecology and conservation of Florida's wildlife and wildlands. A blend of classroom and field sessions will include hands-on activities, guest presentations, and exploration of the preserve's diverse habitats where campers will practice their nature detective skills.

Raptor Camp

Enter the world of raptors! Campers have up-close encounters with live birds of prey including owls, hawks, vultures, and a bald eagle. Learn the important role these apex predators play in the environment as well as how to care for and train them.
