Nature-Based Day Camps

Fun and exciting adventures await your child. Campers will discover nature and wildlife while being educated about caring for our environment. Camps take place when Pinellas County schools are on “holiday” break. See information below for ways to create amazing childhood memories. Sprouts Camp

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center
Ages: 3 to 4 (Children must be potty trained)
Date: November 20 - 22, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Cost: $40

Kids grow better outside! Join us for Sprouts Camp, a week filled with songs, stories, games, and nature walks. Habitat investigations and hands-on activities will demonstrate environmental concepts.

Young Naturalist Camp

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Environmental Studies Area - Oak Hall
Ages: 5 - 6
Date: November 20 - 22, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended Care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $80 • Extended Care: $15

This camp is filled with a variety of exciting activities including nature hikes, games, animal and plant studies, crafts, and wildlife watching. The goal is for campers to explore and learn about their natural world, encourage personal creativity, and learn to share discoveries by working together and having fun.

Pioneer Camp

Ages: 7 to 13
Date: November 20 - 22, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended Care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $80 • Extended Care: $15

Campers experience a time when family, friendship, and character were as important as food, water, and shelter. Young pioneers will learn through activities adapted from the Association for Experiential Education to foster team building, leadership, and self-esteem.

Earth Science Camp

Ages: 4 to 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Extended care 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $80 • Extended Care: $15

Participants learn about the rock cycle through hands-on activities, start a rock collection, make a volcano, dig for real fossils and conduct field research.

Turtle Camp

Kids get in-depth studies of Florida freshwater, marine and terrestrial turtles with Biologist George Heinrich. Field studies, classroom investigations, live animals and artifacts.
